moon wanes and indigo spills across the sky;
memories crack like daybreak and faces
lose their lines. i squint my good eye
but the wrinkles at the corner of your nose defy
my sight. my fingers graze;
indigo stains my nails. your mouth disappears and
giggles, screams and cries coalesce.
until,
only your hands remain. under the sea,
cradling the sun. your knees stick
out and red spills across my palms.
i hold my breath
and dive.
